for Purple 13
News reached us that an Italian publisher
had chosen a Purple 13 image for use in a publication due to be printed
shortly.
The photograph from Mandy's stock library
features the office cat as a kitten 'pawing' at the washing spinning round
inside the machine.
This cute pose was caught on the spur of
the moment, but makes a lovely image.
That same office cat - Amy - is now expecting
her own kittens (any day now) or she's swallowed a basketball whole!

Purple 13 move to new premises
We're very pleased to announce after a
hectic Easter, that we have finally managed to move premises.
Our new address is Unit P13, Derwentside,
Derwent Street, Belper, Derbyshire, DE56 1WN, UK.
We're very pleased to be working within
the historic former Cotton Mill and as well as a larger display of Purple
13 artworks in various framed and print options, we'll also be showcasing
the personalised photo gifts available from our sister company - Fabulous
Photo Gifts.
The large range of Jigsaws as well as our
new CD Clocks will be on display within our own unit.
We look forward to welcoming visitors to
our unit. The Derwentside itself offers a range of original, bespoke and
reproduction furniture as well as other antiquities.
There is ample FREE parking and our showroom
/ art gallery is open 7 days a week, 8.30am to 5.00pm. |

16/02/07 - International sales success,
Mother's Day and more
The New Year certainly started with a bang
- literally. Our main web designing PC decided it needed a new hard drive
and, despite daily chasing, seems to have taken forever to return from
the engineers.
However, that hasn't stopped Purple 13
dealing with a steady flow of personalised photo jigsaw orders in addtion
to an international sale of one of Mandy's artworks to Russia.
We also finished putting together the bulk
order prices for business promotion, marketing, tourism and leisure, reselling
and other endless possibilities of our jigsaw range and these are now
live and already taking a great deal of interest and enquiries.
In the next week, we'll be adding a new
jigsaw product for you to personalise - 30 and 100 piece jigsaws on a
framed mount and coming soon - postcard jigsaws - a personalised jigsaw

Mandy's latest online passion
went live tonight with the launch of Fabulous Photo Gifts - personalised

06/09/06 - Purple 13 advert at Sainsburys
checkouts
Purple 13 adverts will be running
in the next 3 months editions of Location, Location, Location - the popular
magazine of the Channel 4 program by the same name.
In an exclusive marketing deal, this will
be the only magazine on sale directly at Sainsburys checkouts in the run
up to Christmas. The October edition, the first featuring Mandy's advert
will be on sale from this weekend (September 9th).
This latest media advertising follows on
the back of the successful summer campaign in Living Etc magazine.
This new advert promotes Mandy's artworks,
prints and stretched canvases as well as the clothing and other gifts
available featuring Purple 13 art. All of which can be purchased online.
The November editions advert (due out in
October) will feature a seperate advert for Mandy's latest online venture

WOW!
Following on from the news that
Mandy's work has achieved well above average ratings on the image site
Photographers Direct with most of her artworks achieving a judges rating
of 8, she learnt today that one of her works has been awarded the ultimate
rating of 9.
This automatically places the image, in
this case one of her artworks, onto their WOW page.
The artwork is entitled Rose Kaleidoscope.

25/08/06 - Purple 13 has the wow factor
at Photographers Direct
Purple 13 art has certainly caugh
the eye of the judges rating images at Photographers Direct.com - a leading
image portal in the UK.
Their site rates all submitted images as
a guide for potential purchasers, with many picture requests having a
minimum standard. On their site they quote a 2.5% average of images receiving
an outstanding rating of 8.
So far, of the images submitted by Mandy
Collins, 8% have received the rating of 8 and she has had works put forward
for final consideration on a number of picture request projects already.

25/08/06 - Purple 13, you and Google
- its all about trust
Earlier
today, I read a very interesting article that talked about Google rankings
being affected by sites that Google felt it could trust, much as a visitor
to a site will be able to rely on the content and goods or services that
site sells. Here’s how Purple 13 has worked to establish that trust
with its customers, visitors (and Google).
Firstly, Purple 13
has been fully online since 2003, during which time the site has developed
from a simple click and display of Mandy Collins artworks to a full online
shopping experience. New artworks are always being completed and added
and the number now available to view and purchase online via the website
is over 500.
In addition, our
ever popular News Page carries all the news of new artworks, prominent
sales and international sales, website amendments and art news from her
two High St galleries at Heanor and Belper in Derbsyhire.
To help keep visitors
informed, the long running Purple 13 News service was recently extended
to include an RSS feed that is updated at least every week and our latest
service – this Blog, which receives regular daily updates and provides
a useful portal for visitors to leave their comments or questions for
Mandy or her Web Team. As and when we get questions, in addition to replying
personally, we’ll post them (minus any individual’s information)
and their reply for future visitors – search this Blog for FAQ to
view all.
Purple 13 has also
invested in state of the art secure servers and hosting through Price
Engines Ltd and the addition of an 0845 local call rate telephone number.
A recent spell of
Google Adwords campaign and various advertising campaigns in prominent
home style magazines like Living Etc and Location, Location, Location
magazine which will start in September and run till Christmas all point
towards an artist whose website will be visible for a very long time to
come.
The Purple 13 web
design team are constantly tweaking and refining the Purple 13 online
art experience for visitors including helpful new graphics and banners
to help visitors get the most from their visit and make their purchase
as easy as possible.
Mandy has also made
her work available for licenced commercial use via respected image portals
– Alamy, Fotolibra and Photographers Direct and in addition to her
artworks, has over 500 other quality stock photographs that sell the world
over. In particular, her artworks have been licenced for commercial use
from South Korea to America to the Czech Republic. Links from respected
online companies and directories feature on their own Links Page with

launched
Work continues on the Summer
amendments with the introduction of a new Purple 13 Blog and greater prominence
for the RSS feed. A link to the new Blog can be found on the Home page
as well as additional, easier navigation to the RSS feed and News page
from the top navigation bar.
To help visitors get the most from Purple
13's RSS experience, a new user help guide is now also available, reached
via a link next to the RSS XML view buttons on the home page.
A new graphic depicting the viewing and

22/08/06 - New gallery buttons cut
search times
As the summer re-vamp continues
on Purple13.co.uk, new gallery buttons have been introduced to help visitors
find their favourite Mandy Collins artwork more quickly.
The new art gallery buttons have been designed
to speed up page loading times. Now, visitors will find a maximum of 21
artworks to a specific gallery.
The galleries feature thumbnails of Mandy's
artworks. Clicking on the thumbnail artwork of your choice displays a
larger individual image, print and frame options and prices for that artwork.
Clicking on the amount/cost then adds that item to your basket.
Don't forget, you can get 12 hours advance
notice of new artworks by signing into the Purple 13 guestbook (see above).

11/08/06 - New Artworks and new Galleries
make debut
New artworks by Mandy Collins
made their debut on the Purple 13 site today as part of a Summer makeover
for her digital photo art collection website.
Visitors can now experience 2 brand new
galleries - Floral Art which now has its own gallery and a brand new range
of art under the heading of Aesthetic Art.
In addition, other new works have been
added to Floral Close Up, Misc', Abstract and Panoramic galleries.
Mandy said "I hope visitors new and
old will find something they like amongst the new works I have recently
completed. I'm particularly pleased with how the Aesthetic collection
turned out and I'll be adding to these, following the interest I've already
received about them. My web design team has already made the new works
and galleries visible and will complete adding purchase option details
and shopping basket functions during the coming week".

10/08/06 - Purple 13 mentioned in
'same breath' as The Beatles
You never know where a reference
to Purple 13 art by Mandy Collins will crop up next and today was no exception.
Whilst conducting a routine search on Mandy
Collins, Google returned a match on the first page to a press release
on the BAPLA website.
It seems that Fotolibra - an image library
that Mandy submits her works and other stock photography to had just made
available previously unseen images of the Fab Four.
The article goes on to praise the Fotolibra
service and states "The Beatles Collection is the latest coup for
Fotolibra. Other major collections on the site include award-winning digital
artist Mandy Collins".
Who knows, it might inspire Mandy to produce

01/08/06 - Last minute order in the
U.S makes it 4 international sales in July.
It's never over till the fat
lady sings and its the same with art as Mandy learnt that a last minute
licenced purchase made it 4 international sales of Purple 13 art during
July.
The Tennessee customer licenced an image
from her Sun and Water collection.
The piece entitled Clouds 2 shows a breathtaking
view of clouds catching the evening sun. The United States of America
is no stranger to Mandy's work with this latest sale following on the
back of others to the USA, including one last week to a customer in Wisconsin.

14/07/06 - Third Licenced Sale to
Czech Republic.
The Czech Republic is definately
in the pink after Abstract Pink by Mandy Collins was licenced for a 25,000
print run in an editorial magazine there yesterday. This is the third
time Mandy's artworks have been sold in the Czech Republic and twice Abstract
Pink has been chosen.
Under her studio name of Purple 13, Mandy

the Czech Republic developing - a bit of a crush.

How
would you describe the strangest photograph you have ever taken?
'Cold
Water'
At the end of a family
outing in Monsal Dale, Derbyshire, my children went for a paddle in the
river. Just as I pressed the shutter one of the children slipped so I
caught her falling into the very cold water. Later I zoomed in on her
face and turned it into an abstract in photoshop. This has since been
used by Epson, through Fotolibra, printed onto a giant piece of Perspex
at an exhibition and looked fantastic. |

07/06/06 - Photographer of the Week
award
Purple 13 artist Mandy Collins
was delighted to learn this week that she is being featured as Photographer
of the week on the image library website - Fotolibra (week starting Monday
12th June).
A selection of her artworks and other photograpy
is featured along with an interview and details about the individual photographs
and artworks. There will also be press releases to local newspapers in
the Derbyshire area.
Mandy has worked closely with Fotolibra
since they first began and now has over a 1000 images for licencing and
commercial use available. She was their 10,000th image upload 'winner',
since then continuing to contribute to their now 100,000 plus images.

With barely time to draw breath
before the advertising campaign in Living Etc starts, Purple 13 announces
another licenced sale of artwork to a media company in the Czech Republic.
The artwork entitled Abstract Pink, which

exhibition opens
With work completed last week on
the brand new Art Gallery at Heanor Antiques and Craft Centre, Purple 13
artist Mandy Collins has seized the opportunity to exhibit her work in this
impressive, new, high street gallery setting.
With examples of her contemporary work, framed or mounted, greetings cards
and homewares etc already for sale in the recently opened craft centre,
the Art Gallery opening was the perfect opportunity to showcase some of
her more traditional landscape, floral and people subject, art and photography.
There's a tempting array of framed prints in varying sizes for sale plus
greetings cards featuring much of the work on display. Hanging was completed
this weekend ahead of the official opening, although the gallery is open
for business now.
So the next time your passing through Derbyshire, why not stop off at the
Heanor Antique and Craft Centre and experience the vibrant colours and eye

More international
recognition for Mandy Collins as she learnt this week that not one, but

- New 'High St' Purple 13 gallery opens at Heanor Antiques & Craft Centre
The first 'High St' Purple 13 gallery
opened today located within the Midlands' renowned Heanor Antiques Centre's
brand new Crafts Centre.
The Craft Centre was officially opened at a ribbon cutting ceremony attended
by the Deputy Mayor of Heanor, with Mandy Collins present to offer customers
advice and background information on her art techniques and subjects within
her own gallery area.
Later on, she was asked to pose for official opening photographs with her
eldest daughter who's eyes are the subject of her Purple 13 gallery 'eyes'
label.
The gallery offers a wide selection of Mandy's artwork in a variety of specialist
frames including signed limited editions and chld friendly perspex frames.
Prints are also available either mounted or unmounted and there is a tempting
array of beautiful greeting and gift cards featuring all your favourite
Purple 13 artworks.
Later this week, a limited number of other gifts including cushions, coasters
and mouse mats will also be stocked. The gallery also features some very
desirable silk paintings by Mandy Collins inspired by some of her digital
creations.
Mandy said " I hope visitors to my high st style gallery will be able
to get a first hand experience of the vibrancy and colourful nature of many
of my works, both contemporary and more traditional. Comments I received
from the first 'official' visitors and other crafts-people opening their

- Purple 13 Picture Wall unveiled
Following feedback from several
interior designers and commercial customers, the Purple 13 Picture Wall
was created and unveiled online today.
This innovative and interactive
new facility allows visitors to see at a glance the entire range of artwork
and photography available from Mandy's Purple 13 website.
They can then click on the 'wall'
to view a larger image and its purchase options and details. The artwork
can then be added to their 'basket' before browsing other artworks prior
to checkout.
If visitors want to licence a
particular artwork, then they are invited to get in touch with their particular
requirements, commercial or otherwise.
The 'Wall' does not include Mandy's
stock photography, art and other images that are available directly from
Alamy and Fotolibra and do not actually appear on this website.
New works will now be added to
the Picture Wall as they are finished, as well as appearing in the usual
galleries and the new works page. With over 500 artworks already featured
on the wall, there's plenty of room for further creations.

- New clothing and gifts shop news and website updates
After a hectic start to the Autumn,
the Purple 13 website underwent the first phase of an exciting re-development
which will see a new clothing and gifts shop facility being made available
with the goods manufactured here in the UK.
New features and changes include:
The deletion of the old Digital Library art gallery, the works having
been transferred to the Digital gallery under their appropriate colour
sub-galleries where they are now available in all finishes.
The Panoramic Art gallery button
now joins the other gallery buttons, for a more uniformed Purple 13 art
browsing experience, and Mandy's strong links with two national photo/image
libraries are also given greater prominence.
A 'teaser' banner now promotes
the forthcoming new, UK manufactured, clothing and other gift items shop
incorporating Purple 13 art. This new shop will hopefully go online with
a selection of goods and artworks in the next couple of weeks. Mandy is
delighted to finally be able to offer UK manufactured and distributed
goods to visitors old and new.

- Novartis award winner Mandy collects award at London presentation
Mandy Collins was invited to the
Royal Society in London to receive her award for her entry into the Novartis
and Daily Telegraph Visions of Science Photographic Awards. She won an acclaimed
2nd place in the coveted Arts section after judges looked at over 5,500
entries during the summer months.
TV Presenter Dr Adam Hart-Davis, one of the judges himself, awarded the
prizes at the ceremony which preceedes a UK wide tour of the winning artworks
and photography.
Mandy was delighted to learn her work had won and said " This award
will help firmly establish my artwork within both the art and business communities".

- Summer travels and big news coming...
It's been a busy and rewarding
summer holidays for Mandy Collins with numerous family trips providing
some fantastic photographic opportunities along the way.
A visit to Anglesey has produced
some remarkable sea-scapes including delightfully strong images of a local
Lighthouse and the surrounding coastline.
Open gardens and other trips
into the countryside have produced a wealth of imagery to be worked on
through the winter months.

- Ghouls, Ghosts and Commissions
A recent request from an established
picture library produced some remarkable pictures from the digital brush
of Mandy Collins.
The results of the request for
some innovative Halloween imagery were so good, that Mandy decided they
should be available as prints, framed art and stretched canvasses. If
you would like them on clothing and gift items, a simple email to Purple

48 hours.
They, along with other new works

Work is well underway on re-vamping

- Epson trade stand commission makes it a happy new year
Purple 13 art doesn't just look

The on-line shopping basket payment
form was amended this week to include a new section for buyers to input
their cards security number, in line with new 'chip n' pin' security requirements
on card transactions.
The security number requested
refers to the last 3 digits
of the number, usually found printed on the reverse of the card on the
signature strip.
This new information is required
for all
card purchases, not just swith and delta cards.

- New Finish available - Stretched Canvas Prints
Not only have ten newly completed
artworks just been added to the galleries, but they will also be joining
all the other art works, that are now available in a new Stretched Canvas
finish.
These stylish and contempory
'frameless' pieces of art, are printed onto a textured canvas before being
stretched and mounted onto a wooden frame. They are ready to hang and
delivered straight to your door. With all the artworks available in this
new range, the only problem you're likely to have is choosing which size
you want it in.
The Artwork is printed using
special dye sublimation which results in a fantastic finish that will
not peel or fade. It is then stretch mounted onto a quality thick wooden
frame with fixings for hanging and delivered by an insured courier service.
The task of adding the new finish
details to all the artworks in the galleries is likely to take a few weeks.

- Purple 13 artwork features in Ikea Room magazine
Temperatures are soaring in issue
28 of the Ikea Room magazine (out this week) as one of Mandy Collins pieces
of art features in a advertisement for an on-line gallery.
The artwork entitled Telephone
Maze, and credited to the artist, certainly brightens up the page and
is already attracting much interest.

- All new web site goes on-line.
The Purple 13 web site re-design
was completed in record time and made its debut on the Internet today.
Incorporating the facility to
purchase art on-line, the re-design was completed way ahead of schedule
by Mandy Collins' web team.
The all new look web site has
some important additions and new information pages as well as showcasing
over 40 new pieces of art that have previously not been seen.
Each piece of art can be accessed
via new gallery headings which have been chosen to help art lovers navigate
quickly to the pieces of art that interest them most.
Once you have found a work/works
that interests you, simply clicking on the gallery thumbnail will show
you a larger viewable version with all the print and frame options available
for that particular piece.
New gallery headings include
digital and stock library's. These contain art completed by Mandy Collins
which would not necessarily be included in the other art galleries.
Mandy was "delighted"
with the transformation and hopes the new on-line purchasing option will
help visitors make their purchases more speedily than before.
Visitors are still able to order
by post if they so wish. On-line shopping is currently restricted to U.K
orders only. Overseas enquiries are welcome and are subject to the carriage
charges to the customers address.

- On line shopping coming
soon for Purple 13 art.
Work is already
underway to transform the existing Purple 13 web site into a more dynamic
art buying and browsing experience for visitors.
The total re-design
and brand new presentation of Mandy Collins' artwork comes as the artist
prepares to offer a full on line shopping experience which will also include
the facility to pay on line for her art as well.
The full choice
of limited edition signed prints, other framing options and choice of
print sizes will still be available. A host of new features and new gallery
headings will complete the web site overhaul.
She said "I'm
really excited about being able to offer my customers, new and old, the
opportunity to purchase their favourite pieces of art on line. My web
design team are working flat out at the moment to complete the re-design".
With some 150 plus
pieces of existing art to be incorporated into the new design, Mandy's
newly completed artworks will not be making an appearence on the internet
until the re-design is launched.

- Picture Wall makes
its debut.
Visitors to the Purple 13 website
can now use the 'Picture Wall' to help them quickly locate the art work
of their choice.
Each piece of art from Mandy
Collins is represented on the wall. Browsers simply click on the 'brick'
of their choice to see a larger version along with price and print size
availability.
The Picture Wall excludes Ex-Exhibition,
Stock and Derbyshire Galleries.

- Exhibition outing for Purple
13 art.
An exhibition entitled Angel
Wings will feature three pieces of art by Mandy Collins.
Running from the 9th December
to the 6th February 2004, at the Picture House Centre for Photography
in Leicester, the themed exhibition promises a true 'art-fest'.
The three pieces on show are
Muted Feather Swirl, Dance and Blue Purple Swirl.

- Limited edition signed prints
released.
Mandy Collins announced the opportunity
for art lovers to buy a very special piece of art. Buyers will now be
able to choose their art and know they are getting a one of a kind with
each piece individually numbered from a strictly limited edition.
New framing options and a new
super size of print complete the new line up of print and framing options
available from today.
Super size artworks are from
a limited edition of just 100, whilst the A4 size come from a limited
edition of 250 off. They also come signed by the artist herself.

Further enhancements to the Purple

- New Gallery offers media opportunities

A new gallery entitled The Derbyshire
Gallery makes its Purple 13 web site debut as interest is shown in the
landscape photography of artist Mandy Collins.
