Purple 13 Creative Arts by Mandy & Charlie Collins.
Purple 13 Creative Arts encompasses Mandy’s love of photography & vintage fabrics, whilst creating exciting and award winning photo art under her studio name of Purple 13, with her youngest daughter Charlie’s own prize winning art and craft projects.
Mandy’s distinctive art works are available for sale as canvasses, prints and signed, limited edition mounted prints via Mandy Collins on Saatchi Art.
Limited Edition prints are printed using Epson archival matte paper and pigment inks, and the mounts have been specifically chosen for their low ph value.
Mandy also licences her works for commercial use via the leading stock image specialists Alamy and Stockimo, where you can licence Purple 13 Arts for anything from a book cover to a billboard.
Her work has already been used by Epson Printers at Olympia, Ordnance Survey (map cover), and many other publications and educational volumes around the world.
In 2005, Mandy won a Novartis & Daily Telegraph ‘Visions of Science’ photographic award for her piece entitled Eve’s Apple.
Charlie Collins is Mandy’s youngest daughter and at just 16, had already won two major art awards in her home county of Derbyshire, as well as organising a public exhibition encompassing the work of several young artists – more on that further below.
The Derbyshire Open Art Exhibition – The Munro Trophy:
Charlie won the Munro Trophy (2015) – a special category within The Derbyshire Open Art exhibition, held at the Buxton Museum and Art Gallery. Open to both professional and amateur artists of all age, works selected from submissions for the final exhibition are judged by a panel of independent judges, with the top winning artwork often acquired for the Museum collection.
Charlie’s watercolour entitled “Matlock Steps” won the Munro Trophy – a category for young artists under 22 years of age. She keeps the engraved Munro Trophy for 12 months plus winning art supply vouchers. Judging took place on Monday 15 June 2015. The exhibition is now open and runs until Friday 11 September 2015.

The Buxton Spa Prize:
Charlie won the Buxton Spa Teen Prize (2015), for her drawing of the Pavilion Gardens looking towards the Buxton Opera House.
The Buxton Spa Prize is an open art competition aimed at celebrating Buxton’s culture, beauty and rich heritage. With over 50 artists entering the inaugural competition in 2014, The Buxton Spa Prize is now firmly established on the art world’s map.
The individual winners were selected by a panel of experts from the art world and Buxton itself. The exhibition includes sale of work and runs from 17th July – 31st August 2015 at The Green Man Gallery – Hardwick Hall, Hardwick Square South, Buxton, SK17 6PY.

The I Am Collective:
Charlie’s also instrumental in setting up a ground-breaking new art project for teens in Buxton, which will be hosted by the Green Man Gallery in Buxton in October this year (2015).
The ‘I Am Collective’ will be a series of works by young artists – friends of Charlie’s. Aged between 14 and 17, these 8 young artists hope to produce “an intriguing and inspiring show” with each artist in the collective working on a unique focus over the Summer, which will form part of a whole narrative.
After enquiring whether there were any youth art projects running in Buxton during the Summer Holidays, only to find there were none. Charlie decided, after a chance comment by her Mum – Mandy, to spearhead her own. The result is the ‘I Am Collective’.
